Patient Advocates United was founded in 2022 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring California patients receive the support they need to navigate the complex healthcare system and can access therapies and interventions to manage and treat their chronic or other diseases.
The inspiration for Patient Advocates United is Thomas Scott Edgington, a towering figure in vascular biology and molecular medicine who spent most of his career at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. Tom was a steadfast advocate for patient care and the development of innovative medicines in his five decades of groundbreaking scientific research until his untimely death in January 2021.
Patient Advocates United is honored to have the opportunity to keep his legacy alive and appreciative of the support provided by the Thomas S. and Joanne R. Edgington Trust in support of our mission.
